No. Rivic is a multi-brand installer. On any given quote, Ryan Sullivan or Andrew Samples will typically present two or three brand options at different price and warranty tiers. The recommendation depends on ACCA Manual J load calc, Climate Zone 5A cold-climate requirements, refrigerant compliance for the January 2025 R-454B/R-32 transition, Mass Save rebate eligibility, and homeowner budget. Rivic does not receive kickbacks or dealer bonuses tied to specific brand selection.

Will Rivic service a brand you don’t install as a new-system dealer?

Yes. Service and repair work is not brand-restricted at Rivic. If your home has a York, Amana, Coleman, Payne, or any other legacy brand not on our new-installation list, Rivic technicians will still service and repair it. Parts availability is the only constraint — for obsolete equipment where original manufacturer parts have been discontinued, Rivic will source aftermarket replacements or recommend replacement if the failure is beyond repair.

Which brands qualify for the Mass Save Whole-Home Heat Pump rebate?

All the cold-climate heat pumps Rivic installs qualify: Mitsubishi Electric Hyper-Heat series, Bosch IDS 2.0, Carrier Infinity Extreme Heat, Daikin Aurora, and Fujitsu Halcyon HFI. The specific equipment model number must appear on the Mass Save qualified equipment list at the time of installation. Ryan Sullivan verifies eligibility at the point of Manual J and equipment selection. All Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat MXZ/MSZ-FS combinations, all Bosch IDS 2.0 tonnages, and all Carrier 25VNA0 configurations Rivic quotes are currently on the qualifying list.

Are R-22 systems still legal to service in Massachusetts?

Yes. R-22 refrigerant remains available for aftermarket service into the 2030s. Massachusetts law and 40 CFR Part 82 (Clean Air Act) do not prohibit service on existing R-22 systems installed before the January 2010 production phaseout. What is prohibited: manufacturing new R-22 residential systems (ended January 2010) and manufacturing new R-410A residential systems (ended January 2025). Existing systems remain fully legal to operate, service, and repair. Rivic technicians hold EPA Section 608 Universal certification to handle all refrigerant classes.

Why does Rivic keep multiple manufacturer credentials instead of specializing in one brand?

Because the Merrimack Valley housing stock includes 1890s triple-deckers with cast-iron sectional boilers, 1960s Colonial forced-air systems, 2020s tight-envelope new construction with ductless heat pumps, and everything in between. A single-brand specialist cannot cover that range with the correct equipment.
