Single outdoor condenser paired with one indoor cassette. Common for: individual room comfort (converted attic, addition, garage apartment, home office), spot-cooling zones, and rental unit heat/cool combined solutions in triple-decker apartments. Not a whole-home solution and does not qualify for whole-home rebate, but often qualifies for smaller rebate tiers. Cost: $4,800 to $7,200 installed for typical single-zone.
Common Lawrence, Haverhill, and Methuen application. 3-zone or 4-zone ductless system in a three-family wood-frame home where central ductwork is impractical. Each apartment unit gets its own indoor cassette; single outdoor MXZ condenser services all zones. Historic District Commission review where applicable. Cost: $12,000 to $22,000 depending on zone count.
